Minimally invasive dentistry has substantial long-term benefits whereas invasive treatments can often lead to the loss of tooth structure, complications, and possible overall health problems.

LASER SURGERY

ACCURACY & PRECISION

Our laser allows Dr. Christensen to remove tooth decay, bone, and gum tissue precisely while leaving surrounding areas unaffected. High-speed drills can cause hairline cracks and fractures in the teeth that may lead to future dental problems. The LightWalker® laser reduces damage to healthy portions of the tooth and minimizes trauma resulting in rapid, comfortable healing, which fits with our minimally invasive commitment to our patients.

PATIENT/LASER INTERACTION

Heat, vibration, and pressure are the primary causes of pain associated with the use of the traditional dental drill. Since removing both hard and soft tissues (teeth and gums) with the laser does not generate heat, vibration or pressure, many dental procedures can be performed with fewer injections, less need for anesthesia, less use of the drill, and fewer numb lips! Additionally, using the laser for gum procedures reduces post-operative pain, swelling, and the need for pain medication in many cases.

IMPROVED CAVITY FILLINGS

Laser cavity preparations can increase the bond strength of tooth-colored restoration resulting in longer-lasting fillings. Lasers also kill bacteria effectively disinfecting the tooth prior to filling. This phenomenon results in less post-operative sensitivity and recurrent cavities.

FEWER DENTAL VISITS

Since you often do not need anesthesia, Dr. Christensen can perform cavity preps in all areas of the mouth in just one visit. This technology also gives trained laser dentists the ability to perform many procedures that were previously referred to specialists. The LightWalker® laser is extremely versatile. It can be used for a wide range of hard and soft tissue procedures. Decay removal, cavity preparation, sealants, root canals, smile design, soft and hard tissue surgical procedures, and more can be performed with ease and comfort.
